LOCKBOX SERVICE DISCONTINUED FOR WATER PAYMENTS

FROM THE TAX AND WATER BILLING DPT: In a cost saving measure, the City is eliminating the use of its lockbox service for water bill processing. Payments will now go directly to the City instead of a second party. Make sure that the mailing address that you or your bank is using to submit your payment is 27600 Jefferson, St. Clair Shores, Mi 48081. If you use an automatic bill-pay through your bank, you will need to double check the address and make sure that your bank will send the payment directly to the City and not the lockbox address. Generally customers set up the receiver’s address with the bank when they first use the service. The customer then inputs the amount the bank needs to pay online and the bank makes a check out to the City and sends it in. It’s very important to double check and make sure that the address is correct. Failure to do so could result in a return of your payment and a possibility of a late payment. Reminder notices are included in your next water bill. If you are using a direct debit system, the bill will be electronically withdrawn from your account and you may disregard this notice. You can also drop your payment off in the white mailbox in front of City Hall. City employees empty it on a daily basis. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the Tax and Water Billing Department at 447-3317.
