CATCH BASINS

This winter has brought very heavy rains that have washed leaves, tree limbs, dirt, and other sediments into the roads and are now blocking catch basins. With the early spring rains now upon us, we are finding that many streets are flooding because the catch basin covers are blocked with this debris. By cleaning the catch basin covers, residents are helping to prevent their street from flooding as well as preventing this debris from draining to and polluting Lake St. Clair. A metal rake can easily lift the debris up onto the grass, where it can be dried out and disposed of. DPW very much appreciates the help, and are looking forward to the spring season.
