  • Cultural Commission (1 Alternate)

  • Development Area Citizens Council (1) (Must live in T.I.F.A. District)

  • Dog Park (1)

  • Economic Development Corp. (Inactive) (1)

  • Waterfront Advisory Committee (1)

Activities Committee Promotes special events in the city
Animal Ordinance Comm. Regulates animal population and prohibits public nuisance
Beautification Commission Recommends beautification improvements within city
Board of Canvassers Audits local election tally
Board of Review Hears tax assessment appeals
Building Property Maint. Board of Appeals Hears appeals to decisions by the building official
Building Authority Serves as financial mechanism for capital projects.
Charter Study Committee Recommends charter review every 7 years
Communications Commission Establishes policies and recommends procedures to the Mayor and City Council on the strategic use of the communication vehicles employed by the City to disseminate information, promote an understanding of the functions of City government, as well as foster and maintain a favorable image of the City to the public it serves.
Compensation Commission Determines salary for local, elected officials
Cultural Committee To facilitate access to and foster awareness of cultural events and activities for all the residents our of community.
Council Legislative governing body; adopts ordinances and resolutions
Development Area Citizens Council         (T.I.F.A. Dist.) Advisory body to T.I.F.A. and Council.
Economic Development Committee  Increases industrial and commercial development
Election Commission Oversees all local elections per election law
Employees' Civil Service Enforces personnel & disciplinary matters
General Employees' Retirement System Administers general municipal employees' Pension Retirement System
Golf Course Committee Recommends fees & policies covering use of the Golf Course
Historical Commission Collection and preservation of historic memorabilia and operation of Selinsky-Green Farmhouse Museum
Housing Board of Appeals Hears appeals to decisions by the building official
Housing Commission Acquires, maintains and improves housing facilities
Library Board Establishes policy for Library operations
Mechanical Board of Appeals  Hears appeals to decisions by the building official
Older Persons Advisory Reviews needs of the senior citizen population
Parks & Recreation Comm. Reviews recreational needs of city, projects and facilities
Planning Commission Recommends/reviews physical development of the city
Police/Fire Civil Service Enforces personnel and disciplinary matters under P.A. 78
Police/Fire Pension System Administers police and fire pension system, State Act 345
Sign Arbitration Committee Administers city sign ordinance
T.I.F.A. Carries out activities under Tax Increment Finance Authority Act
Water Resources Development & Advisory Board Investigates and reviews proposed water projects and structures involving waterways and bottomlands of Lake St. Clair
Waterfront Advisory Committee Monitors, coordinates and promotes clean, safe usage of Lake St. Clair
Zoning Board of Appeals Reviews appeals from property owners
