Statistics have shown that three out of four fires occur in the home.  St. Clair Shores is basically a residential community which means the danger of a fire fatality or injury to our citizens is higher.  Residents most in danger are the very young and the very old.  Night time is the most dangerous time for fires.  For this reason, SMOKE DETECTORS may provide the only means for alerting home residents of a fire danger.  Firefighters strongly recommend that residents change batteries in home smoke detectors twice a year, spring and fall, or each time they adjust their clocks.  

Contact the Fire Prevention Bureau at 445-5380 for fire safety inspections, education and fire safety information.  The Fire Prevention Bureau also provides a Juvenile Fire Setter Program which specializes in educating children who are more than just curious about fire.  Remember, fire prevention is NO accident…

The south side is served by the station on Greater Mack, just north of Nine Mile.

The central region is served by the fire station on Harper between Ten and Eleven Mile Roads.

The fire station on Thirteen Mile Road serves the north side.



Remember in winter months, if you have a fire hydrant near your home, clear the snow around it so it is easily viewable and accessible in the event of a fire emergency.  Help us help you and your neighbors!
