St.
Clair Shores Fire Department
Fire Prevention Bureau
Statistics
have shown that three out of four fires occur in the home. St. Clair Shores
is basically a residential community which means the danger of a fire
fatality or injury to our citizens is higher. Residents most in danger are the very
young and the very old. Night time is the most dangerous time for fires.
For this reason, SMOKE DETECTORS may provide the
only means for alerting home residents of a fire danger. Firefighters strongly
recommend that residents change batteries in home smoke detectors twice
a year, spring and fall, or each time they adjust their clocks.
Contact
the Fire Prevention Bureau at 445-5380 for fire safety inspections, education
and fire safety information. The Fire Prevention Bureau also provides a
Juvenile Fire Setter Program which specializes in educating children who
are more than just curious about fire. Remember, fire prevention is NO
accident…

Remember in winter months, if you have a fire hydrant near
your home, clear the snow around it so it is easily viewable and accessible in
the event of a fire emergency. Help us help you and your neighbors!
