Revised Hours

The St. Clair Shores Police Support Services Division is expanding its “Public Business” hours. Beginning September 15th, in addition to the regular open hours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Support Services will be open for public business on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month from 4-7 p.m. If the 1st or 3rd Monday is a holiday, there will be no evening hours until the next regularly scheduled evening hours day. Rule of Thumb to follow…if it’s a Monday and there is a Council Meeting that evening…we are open 4-7 p.m.

Copies of Reports

Copies of police incident reports and traffic accident reports are available in OSS. They are usually available after the incident on the first business day that Operational Support Services is open. 

Accident reports are $18. Standard reports are $15 for the first three pages and $1 for each additional page.

Dog and Cat Licenses

The City of St. Clair Shores has entered into an agreement with the Macomb County Animal Control Center to issue dog licenses on behalf of the County. To obtain a license, a resident may come in person to the cashier’s office at City Hall or the Macomb County office located at 21417 Dunham Road, Clinton Township, MI 48036. If a resident already has the dog license application card, it may also be mailed directly to the Macomb County address. To acquire a dog license, proof of the dog’s rabies vaccination must be provided, along with evidence of spaying or neutering if applicable. Licenses are valid for one calendar year. License renewals must be completed by March 1st of each year. 

Macomb County Animal Control hours are Monday – Friday for calls from 8 a.m.– 5:45 p.m. their number is 586-469-5115 and they are open to the public 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. You can buy pet licenses on their website at http://animalcontrol.macombgov.org/ or click here to download an application.

Burned-out Street Lights

The Chief's Secretary keeps a list of burned-out street lights. To report a burned-out street light, call the Chief's Secretary at 586-445-5320. She will add the light to the list, and Detroit Edison is notified to make repairs.


Fingerprinting is done only for residents or persons required to have fingerprints for employment within the city of St. Clair Shores. All persons fingerprinted at the Police Department must show valid identification. 

Ink fingerprints are $10 for residents of St. Clair Shores and $20 for non-residents. 

Livescan fingerprints can be sent electronically and are usually done for school employment. You must have a form issued by your employer with their ID number and reason code. The cost for Livescan fingerprints is $80 for residents and students of St. Clair Shores schools. It's $100 for non-residents.

Payment for this service must be only cash or a check payable to “The City of St. Clair Shores.” Payment must be made in the O.S.S./Record’s office between 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday. You will then show your receipt to the front desk Officer for printing. Wait times vary for this service based on the Officer’s workload at the time.
