Cops For Kids started as a program to provide gifts to children in need around the holidays and has turned into a program that helps families all year long. St. Clair Shores police officers volunteer their time to over 250 families annually.

Annual Newspaper Sale

About the Group
The St. Clair Shores Goodfellows is a local group of volunteers who try to fulfill our “No Kiddie without a Christmas” mission with our Annual Newspaper Sale. We also collect canned and non-perishable food from our local scout groups and public school food drive.
We purchase food and gift cards with the money collected from the newspaper sale.
For residents that ask for food baskets, we provide turkey, stuffing, potatoes, and 1-3 boxes of canned and non-perishable food.
Apply
To apply for gift cards to purchase gifts for their children, applicants must schedule an appointment with us and provide proof of residency, birth certificates, guardianship papers for each child, and proof of income.
Appointments will be scheduled in December at the Central Fire Station.
Starting the day after Thanksgiving, you can call 586-980-0400 for Goodfellows help.
We Welcome Volunteers
- To sell newspapers on Newspaper Sale Day anytime from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Central Fire Station, and to deliver baskets on Christmas Eve from 9 a.m. to noon from our North Fire Station (must be 18 or older)
- To donate non-perishable food the first 2 weeks of December through local schools and area

Relay For Life is an international event to raise funds for a future free of cancer.
The St. Clair Shores Senior Cruisers are a social club for St. Clair Shores residents age 50 or older (only one spouse needs be 50). Join and enjoy coffee and donuts, play cards, play bingo, go on trips, and much more.

"Wheels For Wishes" is a car donation program benefiting Make-A-Wish Michigan that offers a free and easy way to recycle or donate unwanted cars, trucks, motorcycles, SUVs, RVs, and boats. Donated vehicles can be recycled or auctioned off, with all proceeds benefiting Make-A-Wish, helping your vehicle become a wish for a local child.

The Yardeners of St. Clair Shores is a group of gardeners dedicated to achieving beneficial environmental results by teaching and practicing earth friendly gardening. This includes the use of native plants, wildlife habitat landscaping, composting and Integrated Pest Management minimizing the use of harmful chemicals. The funds we raise go back into the community through donations, educational programs and planting projects. There are no fees or dues to pay nor is membership required. The scheduled 2023 planning meeting dates are February 13, May 8, June 12, July 10, August 14, September 11, and November 13 at 7 pm. Presentations and planning meetings are usually held at the St.Clair Shores Library at 11 Mile and Jefferson.

"Ferns, Grasses & Sedges: Their Role in the Garden" - Michelle Serreyn will inform us about ferns, grasses, and sedges, which can add subtler colors, and long-lasting foliage with various growth habits.
June 2, 3-6 PM & June 3, 9 AM-Noon
Native Plant Sale - Inventory will be determined by Michigan weather and germination success.
Also, new this year, we have garden design pages (PDF) for you to look at. The plant listing gives information about the plants and where they are best located, etc.
