Federal funding is available for organizations that help underserved St. Clair Shores residents.
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program funds public service organizations to assist low-to-moderate-income residents. Public service organizations are encouraged to apply for funding.
They must meet certain criteria and document that they serve low-to-moderate-income residents from Macomb County. Funding has been used for homeless shelters, abused and neglected children, domestic abuse shelters, wigs for children, and much more. If you know of or are part of an organization that serves low-income residents of Macomb County, please reach out to Ken Blankenship at kenb@scsmi.net or 586-447-3362 for more information.
A public hearing takes place at 7 p.m. on February 28 at St. Clair Shores City Hall to hear requests. Organizations must complete an application before the hearing. Award notification will occur in mid-2023 and funding should be available by the fall of 2023. Organizations must spend all funding within one year of receipt.
