The Blossom Heath Activity Pier opened with an afternoon ribbon cutting.
The 10 million dollar project was funded by the city’s Tax Increment Financing Authority (TIFA) and is the crowning jewel in Blossom Heath Park, located at 24800 Jefferson Ave., adjacent to the historic Blossom Heath Inn.
Officials from St. Clair Shores, including Mayor Kip Walby, Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel, and the TIFA Chair Richard Widgren, opened the pier on May 6, 2023, by cutting the bright red ribbon and welcoming visitors to take a stroll.
The pier is open to the public, with non-residents that do not hold city park passes able to access the pier on foot through the gate at the entrance of Blossom Heath Park.
The structure offers a smooth walking surface and safety railings for easy views of Lake St. Clair. Portions of the railings are lower for better visibility for shorter guests and those in wheelchairs.
Shade structures offer relief from the sun, and various resting options are available, from regular benches to Adirondack chairs. Seated and standing tables also provide comfort for eating or other activities.
